Agreed. Lonely Planet

I would have to agree with everyone, Lonely Planet is the best! I have used their books for 10 years for many different countries. Last year my husband traveled for a month in Mexico and it served us well! The best!

Lonely Planet Guidebook

Lonely Planet beats them all. I have used it for 30 years.

Favorite Mexico Guide Book

Lonely Planet is best for the entire country. It is especially good for the small towns that no one else covers and it also has especially good maps and map keys. The Moon regional handbooks are very good for specific regions but do not provide national coverage. Fodor and Frommer focus more on the upscale areas in large cities. Fodor does have a separate chapter on Sonora. Footprint combines Mexico with Central America and does not have the detail of Lonely Planet. Two local guidebooks are exceptional for Oaxaca: Oaxaca Tips by Carole Turkenik and Viva Oaxaca by Robert Adler and Jo Ann Wexler. They are available at Amate Bookstore in Oaxaca.

Lonely Planet is the best

I always use the Lonely Planet guidebooks. They're the best although I don't only go to places that are listed in the book because that's where all the other tourists are.
