Around twenty per cent of the rooms are located in a traditional hotel setting of interconnected low-rise buildings (3-4 storeys in height). The property also features a collection of 90 two-story casitas with two to four rooms each. Amenities include comfortable beds and expansive bathrooms, each with a soaker tub and a separate glass-walled shower stall. All rooms offer both air-conditioning and ceiling fans.

Golf at the Fairmont Mayakoba:
Managed by Fairmont, the 18-hole, par 72 El Camaleón golf course at Mayakoba was designed by Greg Norman. Water comes into play throughout the course with two holes designed around seaside features. The clubhouse includes a pro shop, bag storage, restaurant and bar. El Camaleon is home to the PGA Tour in Mexico. Editions of the Mayakoba Classic will take place on the following dates: February 15 - 21, 2010; February 21 - 27, 2011; February 17 - 28, 2012.
