Oaxaca (pronounced "wa-ha-ka") is a colonial city located in the South of Mexico, nestled in a valley in the Sierra Madre mountain range. Oaxaca was occupied in ancient times and the first Spaniards arrived in the 1500s. Among them were Dominican friars, responsible for the construction of numerous remarkable churches.
