Mexico is home to an abundance of ecosystems and species that make it one of the richest countries in the world in terms of biological diversity. This wealth of natural resources is one of the greatest and most beautiful treasures of Mexico. Some of Mexico's ecosystems are conifer and oak forests, mesophyllic mountain forests, xerophyllous thickets and semi-desert pastures, sub-humid jungle, humid jungle, and aquatic environments. Mexico accounts for 10% of all the Earth's species, and occupies second place in terms of its wealth of reptiles, fourth as regards amphibians, and fifth in terms of mammals.
Mexico also has 26 sites that have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
