You can expect hot, dry weather through most of Mexico in the month of April, which is perfect weather for the beach, and many Mexican families take advantage of this fact during their Easter break (April 12 to 27, 2014). It's high season for travel, so if you plan to be in Mexico during Holy Week, make hotel reservations well in advance. Here's a glance at some of the most important festivals and events held in Mexico in April:

Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic
Punta Mita, Nayarit, April 3 to 6
This four-day event marries the sophisticated worlds of culinary excellence and championship golf. The event will feature gourmet meals and cooking courses taught by distinguished chefs, a series of wine and tequila tastings, festive gatherings at the luxurious St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, sailing adventures during sunset and “The Punta Mita Cup,” a two-day golf tournament on Jack Nicklaus’ two signature courses Punta Mita Bahia and Pacifico.

Daylight Saving Time Begins
April 6, 2014
In Mexico, Daylight Saving Time (called el horario de verano) is observed from the first Sunday of April until the last Sunday in October. Clocks are set forward one hour at 2 am on the first Sunday in April.

Festival Internacional 5 de Mayo Puebla
Puebla, Puebla, April 11 to May 11
This festival's goal is to promote Puebla's artistic, architectonic and socio-cultural heritage, and commemorates two important dates - April 16th, the date of Puebla’s foundation, and May 5th the Battle of Puebla. This is a multidisciplinary festival that offers a variety of activities such as concerts, gastronomy, theater, conferences and more, with both national and international guest performers.

Holy Week - Semana Santa
Nationwide, April 12 to 27, 2014
In 2014 Easter falls on April 20. Festivities take place during the week leading up to Easter, but many people have the following week off as well, stretching it out to a two-week holiday. Religious processions and passion plays re-enacting Jesus' crucifixion are commonly held, but for many Mexicans this is a favorite time to hit the beach.

Feria Nacional de San Marcos
Aguascalientes, April 19 to May 11
This international fair attracts folks of all ages to enjoy bull-fights, concerts, rodeos, art displays, music, dance and other cultural events; and to gamble at the fair's temporary casino.

Festival de San Luis
San Luis Potosí, April 21 to 27
An annual cultural festival featuring performances in all disciplines of the fine arts. Each year various activities are offered in theater, dance, opera, music, exhibitions, workshops and conferences, access to which is free to the public.

Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race
Newport Beach, California to Ensenada, Mexico, April 23 to 27
This colorful race has earned the title of the largest international yacht race in the United States. With more than 20 classes, the race includes a variety of sea-going boats ranging from top ultra-light and maxi-yachts to the non-spinnaker classes. Lexus, the title sponsor of the yacht race, will provide a two-year vehicle lease to the winner.

International Motorcycle Week
Mazatlan, Sinaloa, April 23 to 27
Over 300,000 bikers and spectators from across the United States and Mexico converge in Mazatlán for this annual event. The magnum event is the Great Parade, a colorful procession of international motorcycle clubs cruising sixteen miles along Mazatlán’s oceanfront malecón promenade. Other events include an extreme acrobatics competition, drag racing events, and nightly concerts and performances by national rock bands.
