Sopa de Lima, or lime soup, is one of the most famous and ubiquitous dishes found throughout Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
Sopa de Lima is a broth-like hot soup made from chicken stock and lima (a citrus fruit similar to lime but less acidic), and filled with chunks of chicken, sometimes substituted with turkey, and torn pieces of fried tortilla.
It is sometimes sprinkled with cilantro and tomatoes, and extra lime or chili can be added.
Pronunciation: SO-pa da LEE-ma
