The Westin Cancun Resort & Spa is a beachfront hotel offering panoramic views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea and the tranquil Nichupte Lagoon. The resort is located at the southern end of the Cancun hotel zone, next to the Club Med Yucatan Cancun, and just 6 miles from the Cancun airport.
Guest Rooms at The Westin Cancun
The hotel has 379 guest rooms, all with views of the ocean or lagoon. The minimalist decor of the guestrooms draws the eye to the view outside the window. I stayed in a recently renovated room on the 5th floor which had no balcony, but offered an enticing view of the beach and the oh-so-blue Caribbean. The guestrooms are very spacious. The comfortable beds are covered with pristine white sheets and bedspread. The only decoration in the room was a trio of paintings above the bed with blues that call out the blue of the ocean. There are lamps by each side of the bed, one on the desk and a floor lamp beside a comfy reading chair.
Those who, like me, need to get some work done during their stay will be very pleased with the large desk and comfortable work chair. Wifi is not included in the room rate, but is available for a $15 USD per day fee.
Unfortunately, the spaciousness of the room does not extend to the bathroom. Here you'll find a separate shower and tub, both rather small. There is only one light switch in the bathroom which lights up several strong overhead lights - beware if you have to get up in the night, you might be temporarily blinded. The signature Westin white tea scent leaf shaped soaps and bath amenities are a plus, however.
Besides its long stretch of white-sand beach, the Westin Cancun also has four outdoor swimming pools. The resort's main pool faces the Caribbean Sea and features a swim-up bar, and two more pools are on the side of the Nichupte Lagoon. Royal Beach Club guests have access to a pool which is exclusively for their use.The resort has extensive facilities for conferences and other events, with a total of 11 meeting rooms.
The Westin Cancun's aptly named "Heavenly Spa" is accessed by an elevator near the lagoon-side swimming pools. The spa has six treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, and Jacuzzis. The spa offers a full range of massages and body treatments, as well as a temazcal experience on the beach. If you'd rather not leave the comfort of your room, in-room massages are also offered.

The hotel offers both a European and an all-inclusive plan. An upgrade to the Royal Beach Club will get you a room with a balcony, and Royal Beach Club guests receive included breakfast and happy hour with drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 8 pm.
Dining at The Westin Cancun
El Palmar is the hotel's largest restaurant and serves buffet breakfast daily, as well as a la carte options. Guests who are looking to There is indoor and outdoor seating by the main pool. Lunch and dinner are also served here, both local and international specialties.
Arrecifes restaurant is accessed from the main lobby. This elegant restaurant serves seafood and upscale Mexican fare in a softly-lit dining room. This is the ideal spot for a romantic dinner.
Sea & Stones, the restaurant by the beach has a unique offering: you can cook your own food at your table. You're brought a hot stone and you cook your dinner to your satisfaction. I had a vegetarian option and i enjoyed grilling my own veggies, and there were a variety of sauces. Do take advantage of the paper bib provided by the restaurant if you're planning to do this, though, because it can get messy.
If you prefer to dine in the comfort of your room, room service is offered around the clock.
