The Oasis Cancun is an all-inclusive resort located in the Cancun hotel zone on a beautiful stretch of beachfront. The resort has one large pyramid-shaped building at the center of the resort, and four rectangular shorter buildings. This is the fun property of the Oasis Hotels & Resorts chain, offering an "entertainment resort" concept with a lively atmosphere. In-house performers provide constant entertainment: there are singers, clowns, acrobats, rollerbladers, mimes, and flash mobs, as well as live DJ in the beach clubs, nighttime shows and exclusive concerts.
This all-inclusive resort is popular with spring breakers, but is also a great option for families and couples. Adults looking for a quieter, more romantic getaway will prefer the Oasis Sens, and families who want lots of amenities for the kids should look into the Oasis Palm, but couples, families and groups of all ages who are looking for a fun Cancun vacation will enjoy the entertainment and happy vibe offered at the Oasis Cancun.
From the moment you step through the doors and are greeted by a singing quartet welcoming you to the Oasis Cancun, you know it's a fun place. As you walk through the resort you may run into actors in character. During my stay I had a fairly long conversation with a 1940s aviator (I think it was Antoine de St. Exupery, though he never introduced himself formally), and I was serenaded by a young man in the elevator. Some other guests were not so lucky: when they took the elevator they came across a vampire who ominously warned them not to disturb his slumber. Dancers, actors and circus-type performers are always wandering around making for interactive fun throughout the day and into the evening. Nightly shows include a trapeze show in the center of the pyramid building, a Michael Jackson look-alike show and live DJ.
The Oasis Cancun resort also puts on big name concerts: I attended a Kool & the Gang concert when I was there in January 2012. Other high-profile performers who have performed at the resort include Gloria Gaynor, Melanie Fiona, Janelle Monáe and Rosana. A jazz festival is planned for May 2012, and a country music festival is scheduled for summer 2012. For information about upcoming concerts and events, check out the Oasis Hotels & Resorts Facebook page.
