Situated on a privileged stretch of coastline surrounding an extensive 54-acre property, Las Brisas Huatulco resort is an excellent choice for active families and couples. The resort has 484 guest rooms, four beaches, twelve tennis courts, three swimming pools, and six restaurants. The property was previously owned by Club Med, and opened as Las Brisas in 2004.

Las Brisas Huatulco Grounds

The resort is divided into four different "villages" or pueblos: Clouds, Stars, Mountains and Sea. There is a different colored tower at the center of each village, which can be helpful for finding your way back to your room. There is shuttle service available, but there's really no avoiding the stairs throughout the resort, so this is not a good choice of resort for people with mobility issues.

Deluxe rooms are equipped with either one king or two queen size beds, air-conditioning, safe, minibar, satellite TV, and marble-finished bathroom. Most rooms have views of the ocean. Rooms are decorated in a spartan Mexican contemporary style. The Pueblo Mar (Sea Village) section has 10 Honeymoon Suites with private terrace and Jacuzzi, 82 Suites with private terrace and 43 deluxe rooms, all part of the exclusive Brisas Beach Club concept, offering guests upscale amenities.

Dining at Las Brisas Huatulco

Las Brisas offers a selection of different plans. You may choose the all-inclusive plan, room only, or room and breakfast. The all-inclusive plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, snacks from noon to 6 pm, drinks from 11 am to 1 am, and minibar restocked daily. For stays of two nights or more, you will receive tickets to reserve dinner in one of Las Brisas a la carte restaurants.

There are six restaurants on the resort. The main restaurant is the Bellavista, which serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. We found the food to be plentiful and tasty, and we were pleased to find many healthy options. The La Brisa restaurant offers snacks from noon to six pm. There are four a la carte restaurants. We dined at El Mediterraneo and found the food to be excellent, but service at the a la carte restaurant was disappointing.

Las Brisas Huatulco Beaches and Pools

The beaches were arguably the best thing about this resort. There are four different beaches, of these one is rocky and not good for swimming, but the others are excellent for swimming with calm, clear water. Kayaks and snorkeling equipment are available at the El Tornillo beach, which also has a coral reef. There are three swimming pools on the resort: the main pool, an adults-only pool and a games pool.

The bottom line:

This resort is a good choice for active couples or families to have a relaxing and laid-back vacation.
