There are some very affordable hotels in Mexico City. The cheapest ones on this list are very basic: in your room you can expect a bed, a phone and a TV, and a bathroom with hot running water. Do not expect other in-room amenities that are now considered standard in U.S. hotel rooms such as an iron and ironing board, coffee maker or hair drier. Most of these hotels do not have air conditioning (exceptions noted in the text), as it is not generally necessary for the climate in Mexico City.
