Although Santa has come and gone, children in Mexico are still awaiting the arrival of the Three Kings who will bring gifts for them on the night of January 5th, for them to open on the morning of the 6th. You can help bring some smiles to those faces by packing a few goodies to donate.
It's always a good idea to leave some extra room in your suitcase to bring back handicrafts or souvenirs you might pick up on your trip to Mexico, and you can put that space to good use on your trip down by filling up your suitcase with items for disadvantaged kids in the area you'll be visiting. School supplies, picture books and simple non-battery operated toys, and new or gently used clothing or shoes are generally greatly appreciated by community groups.
The Fairmont Mayakoba hotel in the Riviera Maya has partnered with the organization Pack for a Purpose to collect donated items and deliver them to the Casa Hogar of DIF Quintana Roo. See more suggestions of what items are needed. Some other hotels in Mexico are also affiliated with Pack for a Purpose. Consult the Pack for a Purpose website for more info.
