December 12 is the feast day of Mexico's patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe. This is one of the most important religious celebrations in Mexico. On this day people gather to sing Las Mañanitas to the virgin, and many go on pilgrimages to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, or visit other churches dedicated to her. Many Mexicans dress their children in traditional clothing and take them to the church to be blessed. Outside the church, there are stalls set up to take the children's commemorative photo.
