International Tourism Fair of the Americas

I'm in Mexico City attending the International Tourism Fair of the Americas, known as FITA for its acronym in Spanish. This is the second edition of the tourism fair which is being held at the Expo Bancomer Santa Fe in Mexico City from September 22 to 25.

With the participaton of all the states of Mexico and representatives from sixty different countries, FITA is poised to become one of the most important tourism fairs in the world. Mexico City's Secretary of Tourism, Alejandro Diaz Rojas, stated that the fair is a result of a strategic alliance between public and private sectors with the goal of positioning Mexico as one of the top destinations for tourism in the world. It is expected that FITA will bring an economic influx of 60 million dollars.

This four-day fair is open to tourism professionals and press for the first two days and to the general public on the following days.

I am attending FITA at the kind invitation of the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, who have sponsored my travel and accommodation during the event. Please follow me on Twitter at @mexicoguide for updates about the event and my stay in Mexico City.
