Reading Mexico travel blogs is one of my favorite pastimes - besides being entertaining, they are often educational, and it's a great way to get inside information about destinations and life in Mexico. See our list of Mexico travel blogs, and if you write a blog in English about travel in Mexico, share your Mexico blog.
We asked Mexico travel bloggers for their tips for travel to Mexico and received some interesting responses. A great many of them mentioned the importance of learning a few phrases in Spanish in advance of a trip to Mexico, along with other great tips. Here are a few:
- Mexico By Heart: "Don't believe what you hear in the U.S. press -- for the most part, Mexico is safe to travel and the people are overwhelmingly gentle, friendly and hospitable."
- The Mija Chronicles: "Don't be afraid to ask questions. Mexicans are, by and large, open and generous people. They enjoy helping foreigners, and sharing their culture."
- In Veracruz: "Smile and greet people; keep an open mind."
- San Pancho Vida: "Suspend all your expectations. Don't try to make Mexico behave--let Mexico open itself to you."
- Midwesterner in Mexico: "Eat the street food! Just visit the popular stands packed with people & you'll be fine."

I love the advice to “keep an open mind.” It is important that when traveling somewhere we are open to other cultures.
