The Noche de Rabanos, "Night of the Radishes," takes place in Oaxaca every year on December 23rd. I'm always blown away by the creativity and skill that the local artisans put into creating elaborate scenes with this unprepossessing root vegetable. See more Radish Festival photos.

Wow, that is impressive! When I look at a radish, I see just a radish and someone else sees this scene and can actually create it! It’s amazing how creative the human mind can be.
How fascinating! I’ve been to the Solopaca Grape Festival (parade floats with scenes made from grapes) in Italy, but this is even more amazing.
The radish musician caught my eye, but I think the winner for me is the Radish Corn God, LOL. Who’d-a thunk a corn god made out of radishes, eh???
Beth – LOL. I guess there’s no radish god or they would have done him.
This is great reminds me of Fraggle Rock Maybe that’s where the idea came from (one side or the other) I’m sending a link to my radish loving daughter

Wow, that is amazing. We’ve been looking at nativity displays here in Italy, some that are very creative, but this looks really unusual. I love the photos.
That is sooooo cool! I never thought of carving a radish. I may have to try it this summer.
That would be a great gig for Burning Man. At the end, the radishes could erupt in flame and explode.
