Hurricane Jimena hit Baja California on September 2nd as a category 5 storm. Jimena spared the tourist resort area of Los Cabos, making landfall farther north, between Puerto San Andresito and San Juanico, with winds of about 85 mph. Jimena rapidly weakened, and by Wednesday night had been downgraded to a tropical storm.
There has been some damage reported in and around Ciudad Constitucion, with roads flooded, and wind damage to homes and utility lines, but there have been no reports of deaths or injuries. According to the National Hurricane Center, the center of Jimena is expected to move over the central Baja California peninsula and then it will return to the Pacific west of Baja California by Thursday night.
