Talavera Poblana Pottery

Tuesday December 9, 2008
One of Mexico's distinctive artistic traditions is the colorful glazed ceramicware from Puebla, called Talavera. Talavera comes in a wide variety of forms: cups, plates, serving bowls, vases and tiles. It is both beautiful and practical. Talavera continues to be made in much the same way that it has been produced since the 16th Century: formed by hand and painstakingly painted. This pottery is now exported all over the world, but only produced in the state of Puebla.
