Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato

Tuesday September 30, 2008
One of the biggest events on Mexico's cultural calendar takes place in the month of October, the Festival Cervantino. This festival, based in Guanajuato, is now in its 36th year and will run from the 8th to the 26th. Called the Cervantino festival because its original emphasis was on artistic creations in homage to Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quijote, now a full range of artistic expressions are featured in music, opera, theatre, dance, visual arts and cinema. The Cervantino Festival is just one of many events taking place in Mexico in October.
