The Guelaguetza Festival is taking place this week in Oaxaca. The pineapple dance is one of the many folk dances performed during the Guelaguetza.

Love the colorful costumes! In the Philippines, we also have a festival celebrating the bountiful harvest of pineapples.

Very colorful attire. I see all the dancers are women. Is this dance only for the ladies? Wondering if the men participate.

Phylameana, this dance if for women only. Most of the dances are for couples, but there’s also one that’s for men only, called the feather dance. The men wear huge feather headdresses for that one.
