Nomadic Museum in Mexico City Zocalo
In December, Mexico City's Zocalo was home to a huge ice-skating rink. Now the Zocalo is the temporary home of a "Nomadic Museum" which houses a photography exhibit by Gregory Colbert, Ashes and Snow.
The museum is a temporary structure designed by architect Simon Velez, made of bamboo and shipping containers as well as other recycled materials, which can be assembled and disassembled in different locations.
The Ashes and Snow exhibit explores the relationship of humans and animals through large-scale photographs, a one-hour film and two nine-minute short films which are played continuously throughout the day.
The Ashes and Snow exhibit in the Nomadic Museum is an on-going project that evolves and transforms in each location where it is set up. Previous locations include New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
Ashes and Snow will be showing in the Nomadic Museum in the Mexico City Zocalo until April 27th, 2008.
