Temporary Travel Flexibility Coming to an End

Monday September 17, 2007
The temporary passport flexibility which has allowed U.S. citizens to travel to Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada, presenting a proof of passport application and another form of government-issued identification will end on September 30th. Those traveling before then but returning later may return with the same documents, but if you're departing on October 1st or later, you'll need to present a passport. This applies only to those traveling by air - if you're traveling by land or sea, you can still enter Mexico with a proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate) and a photo I.D.
