Chichén Itzá: New World Wonder?

Friday June 22, 2007
There are only two weeks left to vote for your favorite New World Wonder - there are 21 candidates and seven sites will be chosen by popular vote. The winners will be announced on July 7th, 2007 (07/07/07) at a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal. Mexico's candidate is Chichén Itzá, an ancient Mayan site located in the Yucatan Peninsula. Chichén Itzá is the most well-known and one of the most well-preserved of the Mayan archaeological sites. Its stunning architecture and astronomical alignments are good evidence of the advances of ancient Mayan civilization.

You can place your vote for your favorite New World Wonder for free through the New 7 Wonders Web Site.
