U.S. President Bush in Merida
Tuesday March 13, 2007
U.S. President George Bush is in Merida this week, meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, as part of his tour of Latin America. The two politicians will be meeting at Hacienda Temozon, which is number one on my list of Mexico's historic hotels. This isn't the first time a U.S. president has visited the beautiful historic sisal plantation that has been converted into a luxury hotel. President Bill Clinton met with Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo there in 1999. Also on President Bush's itinerary is a visit to the Mayan archaeological site of Uxmal.
The politicians will be discussing immigration policy among other issues.
