Viva Mexico!
Mexico's Independence was celebrated over the weekend, and what was feared would be a tense situation was averted, since President Fox decided to give the grito in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, where the original call for independence took place. Lopez Obrador also backed down, and the festivities in Mexico City, led by mayor Alejandro Encinas, were uneventful.
I decided to celebrate Independence Day in the beautiful colonial city of Puebla, where spirits were high and festivities were in full swing. The Poblanos impressed me with their friendliness, patriotic spirit and family values. Here are some photos of the Independence Day festivities in Puebla.
