Mayan Archaeological Sites of the Yucatan Peninsula

Chichen Itza and Tulum are the two most visited archaeological sites in the Yucatan Peninsula. Chichen Itza is bigger and the architecture is more impressive, but Tulum's location, on the edge of the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, and its proximity to Cancun (only 85 miles as compared to Chichen Itza's 195) have made it increasingly popular. There are many other Mayan archaeological sites in the Yucatan Peninsula, including one right in Cancun's hotel zone.
