Hurricane John gaining force, may hit Los Cabos

Thursday August 31, 2006
Now a category 4 storm, Hurricane John is bringing tropical storm force winds to Mexico's Pacific coast. The storm is moving North-Northwest parallel to the shore. A hurricane warning is now in effect in Los Cabos, on the southern tip of Baja California. A warning is issued when hurricane conditions are expected in the area within 24 hours. Preparations are underway in the resort area, it's possible that the center of the storm may hit there late on Friday.
