Tourists advised to avoid protests

Sunday August 13, 2006

The election protests in Mexico City have been peaceful, even festive, but Oaxaca has been subject to increasing tension, with one protester killed on Friday. Tourists have not been targeted in either Mexico City or Oaxaca, but to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it is best to avoid crowds and protests should you decide to visit while these demonstrations continue.
